Well, it is a little chilly here in Boston, but for those in warmer climates, here are a few outdoor activities our kids have enjoyed:
Water painting – We would use rollers, brushes, paintbrushes, sponges, anything that you could paint with. Add a big bucket of water and any large surface such as a fence, side of a house, brick patio, playhouse and they can be entertained for a good length of time.
Painting the trees – We would use washable, non-toxic paints and paint the tree trunks in the yard. You could either let the rain erase it for you, or the kids can take the hose to it.
Bubbles at the sink – To keep them entertained during the time I’d be making dinner, I’d throw a towel on the floor and fill the sink part way with water and ‘bubbles’, and add cups, spoons, bowls, etc.
Stomp rockets – This one can last hours! Even the kids’ Grandfather enjoys this one!
Painting the snow – You can add food coloring (which may stain clothes), or tempura paint to water, put it in a squeeze bottle or spray bottle (the spray bottle can be difficult to manipulate with mittens on) and let them be creative with their snow designs.
